Cats and books belong together

Wherever my cats are, that’s my home.

For me, living without cats is unthinkable. Treen, Wellington, Nelson, Lady, Duro, Chebba, Zina and Banu came before my current Siamese cats, Gatita and Dona. They’re always with me when I’m working – my faithful companions whilst I’m writing books.

Sometimes they pop up in my books. Like in Rahila’s Secrets. Suddenly, my first cat, Treen, was sitting on a rock in a river in Kurdistan. As the black cat with blue eyes who forms the link between Zara and her grandmother Rahila. And who guides her as she tries to find her identity and feel at home in a new country.

In The Jewish Bride, when Rahila is devastated over the death of her fiance in Palestine, a white kitten is offering comfort. In The Jealous Spy, a kitten is a companion for Zina. And in French Deception, there is a pretty demanding Siamese cat called Laila.
