I love reading stories that are a good mix of reality and fantasy, just as much as I like to write them myself. And I guess that comes from my background as a journalist.
But perhaps not so, as the first stories I wrote in my teens that were published in a Dutch women’s magazine were a retelling of Biblical stories. I recounted those from the point of view of women: the (future) wives of Joseph (with the ten brothers) and of Moses.
I was a writer long before I became a journalist, a profession I needed to gather the knowledge I could then use to write my books, so it seems.
