Twenty years an author

Twenty years ago, in October 2005, my first (non fiction) book hit the shelves. Misled Martyrs (Misleide Martelaren) was published in the Netherlands by Contact Publishing House. In the years after its publication, the book, about an Iranian political organisation that turned into a sect, was translated into Farsi, Kurdish and Arabic.

Fast forward, and eleven books later, in October 2025, I celebrate my 20th anniversary as a writer.  With a new book, number thirteen, but also with the English publication of Misled Martyrs. At the time, I tried in vain to find an international publisher for the English version that was translated by Pamela Williams. Since, I have been publishing many of my books through independent platforms. And this is how Misled Martyr will also come into the world. As an e-book only.

I decided not to update the book, which is a the story of people who got caught up in the organisation and their struggle to escape it, and to get theirs lives back, somehow. I think in this way, it is a historical document that should be available for researchers all over the world.

The celebrations for my writer’s anniversary will take place in the Netherlands.
